Why I donated to Producing Open Source Software 2

... and you should too...
In 2007, when I participated in the Google Summer of Code, one of the books every participant received was a signed copy of Karl Fogel's Producing Open Source Software. Along with Fred Brooks' Mythical Man Month, it's something that I feel should be required reading and has had a big impact on my software engineering career.
There's little difference between a startup and an open source project, the latter might have less money but in many cases there is ego to make up for it.
As an author I think projects like this are the way forward in getting information to the people as quickly as possible and reducing the relevance of publishers.
The finished book will be available online for free just like the original.
